About the Exam
What is the BCBF examination and why is it required?+
BCBF (Business Correspondent / Business Facilitator) is a certification exam mandated by the RBI and conducted by IIBF, for people working or intending to work as a BC or BF. RBI guidelines require BCs to obtain this certification within 9 months of starting their services.
Who conducts the examination?+
IIBF conducts it through authorised testing agencies and CSC centres across India. IIBF is the sole body authorised to issue BC/BF certification.
What levels of BC/BF certification are available?+
Two independent levels: Basic Certification (for BCs handling basic transactions like payments and cash-in/cash-out) and Advanced Certification (for full-fledged BCs covering all regulator-prescribed activities).
Do I need to pass Basic before attempting Advanced?+
No. The two certifications are independent — you can appear directly for Advanced without first clearing Basic.
In how many languages is the exam conducted?+
The exam is available in 11 languages: Assamese, English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Odia, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada. Questions are shown in English alongside your chosen language.
What is the exam duration?+
Basic Certification: 1 hour. Advanced Certification: 2 hours.
What type of questions are asked?+

Eligibility & Training
Who is eligible for the BCBF exam?+
Anyone working as a BC or BF with a bank, or wishing to join a bank in that role, can apply for the certification exam.
Who provides the mandatory training?+
Training may be provided by RBI-identified institutions, including: Bankers' Institute of Rural Development (BIRD); The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM); Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM); CSC Academy; National Academy of RUDSETI (NAR/RSETI's); Banks themselves, at their discretion, following the training structure set by the Coordination Committee.
What is the training duration?+
Basic Certification: 28 hours, over a minimum of 4 and maximum of 15 working days. Advanced Certification: 42 hours, over a minimum of 6 and maximum of 21 working days.
What is the minimum attendance required?+
75% attendance is mandatory to successfully complete training and receive your Training Completion Certificate.
Is training conducted online or offline?+
It depends on the training institution — Basic Certification is mainly online (with offline batches in some cases), while Advanced Certification offers online, offline, or hybrid options.
What is a Training ID?+
A unique alphanumeric code issued after you complete training, required when registering for the exam. IIBF sends it via SMS and email once your training ends.
What if I don't receive my Training ID, or find an error in my profile?+
Contact your respective training institution directly for Training ID issues, schedule queries, or profile corrections.
What happens if I don't pass within 9 months or 3 attempts?+
You'll need to re-enrol for BC training. After completing training again, you can register afresh for the exam.
Documents & Registration
What documents are needed if I've completed mandatory training?+
Recent passport-size photograph, Signature (scanned), Valid identity proof — Aadhaar, PAN, Driving Licence, or Bank ID, Educational qualification certificate. Candidates appointed as BCs before 1 April 2024 and exempted from training should upload their Bank BC ID number and card instead.
What documents are needed if I'm exempt from training?+
Recent passport-size photograph, Signature (scanned), Identity proof, Name of the bank where working as a BC, Date of commencement/joining as BC with the bank, Bank BC ID number, Bank BC ID card (mandatory upload).
How can I register for the exam?+
Through the IIBF website (centre-based exam) or your nearest CSC centre (remote proctored exam).
Is there an extra fee at CSC centres?+
CSC centres may charge up to ₹30 for registration services — no other fee should apply. Report any centre demanding extra charges directly to IIBF.
Can I choose my exam date and centre?+
CSC candidates choose date, centre, and time slot at registration. Centre-based candidates get a pre-decided date (usually the first Saturday of the month), with venue and time shown on the admit card.
Can I change my examination centre after selecting it?+
No — once a centre is selected or allotted, it cannot be changed.
What payment options are available?+
Online payment via debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking.
My payment failed, or it says 'Already applied for exam' — what do I do?+
Register using a computer rather than mobile/tablet. Failed payments are usually refunded in 2-3 working days. The 'already applied' message typically means your previous exam's result hasn't been declared yet — you can only reapply once it is.
The website says 'Exam not activated' — what does that mean?+
This appears when the registration window isn't currently open. Check the IIBF website for the latest registration period and exam dates.
Exam Day
What should I carry on exam day?+
A printed admit card and original identity proof (one OVD) — a physical copy is mandatory; a photo of your ID on a phone or other device won't be accepted.
Can I change my exam date?+
No, the exam date cannot be changed. Rescheduling is only possible if there's a technical issue at the exam centre.
What should I do if there's a technical issue during the exam?+
Inform the technical support team immediately, using the contact details on your admit card.
When and how will I get my admit card?+
CSC registration: sent immediately to your registered email. IIBF website registration: downloadable about a week before the exam using your registration number.
What does 'You Are Debarred For This Exam' mean?+
This appears if you've been issued a show-cause notice for unfair means in a previous exam, or are under investigation — registration is blocked until further communication. Refer to IIBF's malpractice/unfair-means policy documents.
Under what circumstances will I not be allowed to sit the exam?+
If your uploaded photo, signature, or ID proof is blurred or unclear; if uploaded documents don't match your originals; if you don't match your uploaded photo; or if you arrive after the gate closing time.
What's the gap required between two attempts?+
You can only register for your next attempt after the result of your previous attempt is declared — results are generally out within about 25 days of the exam.
Results & Certificate
When is the provisional scorecard available?+
It's shown on screen right after you finish the exam. CSC candidates can also get it from their CSC centre in-charge; centre-based candidates can download it from the IIBF website 4-5 working days later.
When are final results declared?+
Generally 20-25 days after the exam date. If you registered via the website, your marksheet becomes downloadable around the same time.
When will I get my certificate?+
The digitally signed certificate is emailed to your registered ID within roughly 30-45 days of results being declared. Make sure your registered email is valid and has enough storage space.
I haven't received my certificate — what should I do?+
First check your registered email for any photo/signature-related communication. If there's none, try downloading it from the IIBF certificate portal (up to 3 attempts). If it's still not resolved, contact IIBF through their certificate-related query channel.
Can I get a duplicate certificate?+
Only candidates issued a physical certificate before 1 October 2019 can apply for a digitally signed duplicate, by applying on the IIBF website and paying ₹200 + GST.
